Reuters News temporarily suspended its opinion blog on Friday after an anonymous hacker broke in and wrote false information about Syria. “Reuters.com was a target of a hack on Friday,” Thomson Reuters said in a statement. “Our blogging platform was compromised and fabricated blog posts were falsely attributed to several Reuters journalists.” The false posts included what was presented as an interview with Riad al-Asaad, the head of the Free Syrian Army. In the fake interview, the leader was believed to have said that his forces were pulling back from the northern province of Aleppo after clashes with the Syrian army, according to Thomson Reuters. Thomson Reuters denied that the interview had taken place and said that the item had been removed.
